About these terms

These terms apply to all services provided by ElmTech, a freelance business based in York, UK. By engaging ElmTech for any service, you agree to these terms. Contact us at hello@elmtech.uk with any questions before work begins.

Quotes and pricing

  • All quotes are free and carry no obligation.
  • Quotes are valid for 30 days from the date issued.
  • Prices shown on this website are starting prices. Final pricing depends on the scope of work and will be confirmed in writing before any work begins.
  • No work will start until you have approved the quote in writing (email is sufficient).

Payment

  • For web projects, a 50% deposit is required before work begins. The remaining balance is due on completion.
  • For repair services, payment is due on collection or delivery of the device.
  • Invoices are due within 14 days of issue unless otherwise agreed.
  • ElmTech reserves the right to withhold delivery of work or a repaired device until payment is received in full.

Web development services

  • The scope of work will be agreed in writing before starting. Changes to scope may affect the price and timeline.
  • Each project includes a reasonable number of revision rounds as agreed in the quote. Additional revisions outside of scope will be charged at an hourly rate.
  • You are responsible for providing content (text, images, branding) unless copywriting or design is included in the quote.
  • On final payment, ownership of the delivered work transfers to you. ElmTech retains the right to display the work in a portfolio unless you request otherwise.
  • ElmTech is not responsible for ongoing maintenance, hosting costs, or third-party service fees unless a maintenance agreement is in place.

PC and laptop repair services

  • A diagnostic will be carried out before any repair work. You will be informed of the issue and estimated cost before anything is fixed.
  • A diagnostic fee may apply if you choose not to proceed with the repair after assessment.
  • Data: you are responsible for backing up your own data before handing over a device. ElmTech takes reasonable care but accepts no liability for data loss that occurs during a repair.
  • ElmTech accepts no liability for pre-existing faults unrelated to the repair carried out.
  • Parts supplied by ElmTech carry any applicable manufacturer warranty. Labour is warranted for 30 days from the date of repair.
  • Devices not collected within 30 days of notification may be subject to a storage fee.

Liability

ElmTech's total liability for any claim arising from services provided is limited to the amount paid for the specific service in question. ElmTech is not liable for any indirect or consequential losses, including loss of business, revenue, or data.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
